Amma is Icelandic for Grandma, and while she is actually Irish, my Afi (Grandpa) was Icelandic and we have always called them Amma &amp; Afi (pronouned Avi with a soft A). Long-Amma is Icelandic for Great-Grandma and is actually spelled Lange-Amma, but to make it easier I just spelled it as it's pronounced. They had practiced this in short drills due to school shootings (in the country, none in our area), it was a required procedure for the last 2 or 3 years to have lock down drills as well as hurricane &amp; fire drills.  Today was not a drill so it did shake everyone up a little. We were in Hay River for 9 days, drove back to Calgary and left early the next day to fly home.
